I can’t believe the Live Music Capital of the world doesn’t have a guitar museum?. This is what I heard a tourist say walking down South Congress in Austin. Why isn’t there a proper guitar museum dedicated to music and the instruments used to make it? Austin, Texas is known the world over as the place where live music and the idea of a band still exists. From South By Southwest to Austin City Limits from Stevie to Willie, Austin is a bonafide music destination, I think its time for a museum to exist that could serve a multitude of functions from entertainment to revenue generation for a possible  non-profit music fund. I was out at dinner the other night at Uncle Billy’s Barbeque on Barton Springs with a friend when he brought up an point worth examining; a musicians alliance or union of sorts, right here in Austin. My first reaction was, “Why do we need or want a union”? He answered, “A better, more PREDICTABLE standard of living for Austin musicians.  He went on to make a great case for the idea citing that the city, it’s businesses and it’s residents have all benefitted by the quantity and quality of Austin’s music and musicians.
